Nigerian troops stationed at the Eruku Patrol Base successfully rescued a kidnapped Dangote truck driver during a high-stakes search-and-rescue operation on the morning of April 28.
?The operation took place along the ErukuEgbe road in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, a corridor that has recently seen heightened security surveillance.
?Swift Tactical Response.
?The intervention was initiated following a distress call received at approximately 6:45 a.m. reporting the abduction of two Dangote truck drivers. Demonstrating rapid mobilization, troops immediately moved into the surrounding bush paths to trail the suspects.
?The tactical pressure applied by the military forced the kidnappers to abandon one of their captives.
During the pursuit, security forces also seized two motorcycles at the scene, which are believed to have been used by the fleeing criminals.
?Ongoing Search Efforts
?While one victim has been safely recovered, the fate of the second driver remains a priority for the command. Security sources have confirmed the following status:
?Rescue Status: One victim secured; one victim still missing.
?Recovered Items: Two suspected kidnapper motorcycles.
?Current Action: Search efforts have been intensified within the axis to locate the remaining driver and apprehend the suspects.
?"The troops mobilized immediately upon receiving the report. While we have successfully rescued one individual, our personnel remain on the ground to ensure the safe return of the second victim and to bring the perpetrators to justice," a security source stated.
?Local authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security post as operations continue in the Ekiti LGA forests.
